Home On The Range is licensed to care for 40 children from North Dakota. For 68 years, Home On The Range has been helping troubled, delinquent and at-risk boys and girls ages 12 - 18. Our facility offers a safe, wholesome, and therapeutic environment to teach these children better ways of coping or managing their behavior.
Most of our youth have used dysfunctional coping skills to manage problems in the past. In many cases, these coping skills have been survival skills. Regardless of how dysfunctional the behavior has been, it is difficult to get youth to learn more functional behavior if that dysfunctional behavior has, quite literally, kept them alive.
Our task is to resolve these problems, teach appropriate coping skills, heal trauma and do it in a matter of months. Once the children have completed their program at Home On The Range, they return to their communities and families. They become young adults and begin to plan their future. That future may be finishing high school and attending college, beginning a career, or starting a family of their own – but all of them will hope to become productive and responsible citizens in communities and towns across North Dakota and the United States.
We offer the following programs: Animal Assisted Interventions, which include Equine assisted therapy through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association), canine assisted therapy, drug and alcohol services and Adventure Therapy, along with spiritual development, recreation and work program.
We are accredited nationally by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children and licensed by the North Dakota Department of Human Services.
As a private non-profit 501(c)3 program, all monetary donations to Home On The Range are welcome and tax deductible.
