The Waukegan Park District is celebrating its Centennial with a community festival on Sunday, July 2. It begins with a parade, "Happy Birthday USA and the Waukegan Park District", at 1pm on Sheridan Road beginning at Franklin Avenue and proceeding north to Bowen Park. The parade will be organized to highlight decades. The festival will begin at 3pm with the Waukegan Band playing music through the decades, the burial of a time capsule, children's games and crafts, a petting zoo and fun competitions and prizes. The festival will end with an old-fashioned baseball game at Groshe Field beginning at 5pm.
